The Basics

A browser is a software application, used on the World Wide Web to display, find and retrive content and information, such as text, video, images, and other files. 

A browser is a client (A client is an application run on a computer that performs different operations on the server.) 

They are created to display and interpret applications, Javascript, HTML from different web pages. Some web pages also offer plug ins for your browser, this allows the web page to display multi media such as video and allowing videoconferencing 

Browsers were created by Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of  the World Wide Web (WWW) for short in 1989. The World Wide Web became the first web page browser and was made public by 1990, and has respectively grown over time since then in usage and popularity. Today the world wide web allows computers, tablets, and phones to connect together to share and transfer information from all over the globe.
